Rakesh Roshan reveals Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan troubled him on the sets of Karan Arjun
Superstar Shah Rukh Khan appeared on The Roshans and shared how Salman Khan and him would trouble him on the sets of Karan Arjun. Elaborating on the same, Sashi Ranjan shared, “To ye dekhiye kya ye incident jo tha aise hi hum fir main aur Guddu ji ek doosre se baat karte rehte the apni zindagiyon ke, main record karta rehta tha. Hum teen-teen, chaar-chaar ghante, mere paas kam se kam paanch cassette hain. Toh hum aise laga ke hum baat karte rehte the, yeh apne jaate rehte, kabhi udhar ki baat kabhi idhar ki baat, idhar ki baat. So one day he came to this incident and he was so emotionally choked because what he went through is lot of pain. And you can imagine, a filmmaker who’s put everything on stake, and he and a senior man, a trouble by young kids, and you can’t do it. Such a helpless situation.”
Rakesh Roshan chimed in and stated, “Bhagwan se dua maangi ki bhai mujhe gussa na aaye aur yeh kisi tarah picture ho jaaye. Subah yahi kaam hota tha, main mandir mein jaata tha, ‘Hey Bhagwan, I shouldn’t lose my cool, wo thode bachhe hain, nadaan hain, masti kar rahe hain, but I should not lose my cool’. Us tarah phir maine kaam kiya. Maanenge nahi, bohot achi baat hai. Jab Shashi jab interview le raha tha, usko kuch kehna bhi nahi pada. Uska(SRK) pehla sentence yahi tha, ‘Unko humne bohot tang kiya’.”
Sashi Ranjan shares his experience with SRK on the sets of The Roshans
Sashi Ranjan also shared how Shah Rukh Khan acknowledged the challenges he faced during a particular phase. Recounting the incident, Ranjan revealed that when Shah Rukh arrived, he asked, “Theek hai, Guddu ji chale gaye?” to which Ranjan confirmed, “Haan, Guddu ji chale gaye.” With that, the conversation began. Ranjan then made a request, telling Shah Rukh, “I think you are very articulate; you don’t have to be nice in everything, okay?” Shah Rukh immediately understood and responded, “Okay, you ask me whatever you want to ask me.” Confident in Shah Rukh’s honesty, Ranjan had also assured Rakesh Roshan that Shah Rukh would answer without evasion.
As the conversation deepened, Shah Rukh initially looked into the camera while speaking. However, at one point, he asked Ranjan, “Can you just come closer? Can I see your eyes?” He wanted to understand Ranjan’s intent behind the questions. Looking straight into his eyes, Ranjan stated, “You people really gave him a tough time, and it was a difficult phase for him.” Shah Rukh listened attentively before lowering his gaze. When the camera captured the moment, he admitted, “Haan, humne bohot tang kiya, humne bohot tang kiya. Main bohot, I am very sorry,” and sincerely apologised.
Ranjan further mentioned that Shah Rukh added an interesting perspective. He expressed, “I want to say that an actor should always bring to life the director’s vision and imagination. It is not the actor’s role to impose his own interpretation of how the character should behave.” Ranjan concluded by highlighting Shah Rukh’s articulate and intelligent response, not only in answering the question but also in providing a thoughtful explanation of his behaviour.
